invitation

Sort of a last minute thing I got asked to do. My little brothers are graduating from high school and I got asked to do the invitation. This is a second version I did, anticipating that it'd be printed in postcard size and sent in envelopes, but instead they went with an email version instead (which I ended up editing to a single side with their pictures on it, etc).

This is the intended "print version" I decided to finish as my own project. I didn't take many liberties on the text content or organization to keep it sort of "traditional" but I had free reign on design otherwise. Tried to keep it a little masculine. Not a lot of time to do it in, but I sort of liked the outcome so I am posting.

new posters

Updated alphabet posters that I've been meaning to upload. The second one is based a little on the example Gen sent me, but I changed it to split only one letter (and the colors).

The uploaded version--a little different from the latest post, but I uploaded it last Tuesday to make sure I'd receive it in time (unfortunately there wouldn't have been time to change it again anyway without risking it being shipped too late for review).

However I plan to include one or two fold out spreads, at least one of them being this piece from another class which I think is long enough to work (didn't add into the original spreads themselves because this was done last Thursday).

Updating yet again, sorry. All spreads are in the above pdf. I'm only going to put the problem spreads up in here. As always, any suggestions would be appreciated.

UPDATED after class; portfolio edits SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

Download pdf--- Smaller this time, low quality temporarily for easier downloading and viewing. Sorry for the extra page white page in there in the beginning.

New spreads. Format is now 12x12 which works better for the majority of the original sizes of the images anyway.

I think I did most of what was suggested in class today. Let me know if there's still anything that needs major work. Not sure about the yellow Basquiat spreads page.

I know the one with the pink on the right should be on the left, but I liked the way the image's color bled into it, so I left it. Also edited the orange and blue book--much brighter and bolder and no background. Hope it's better.

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT, PLEEEEEEEEEASE CLASSMATES TOO. I hope to get a cover up soon and I'd really like to print tomorrow or the day after.

portfolio 2

Download higher quality PDF (40 mb) Click "download anyway" after clicking this link (it wouldn't work any other way.)

New format is square, as suggested. There is still a placehold for the alphabet posters, but hopefully I will have 2 final versions that I'm satisfied enough with by tonight or tomorrow. No cover yet either, but I'm working on it. It will just be very simple.

I'm also still having issues with arranging. It's hard to get away from grouping everything by class. Also I wanted to do more with the descriptive text, but at the same time I wanted to keep it simple so as to not take away from the work itself. Should the font be smaller? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

more word posters

Few new word posters. I said I'd do more, and I enjoyed doing these anyway--even though the subject matter for these was kind of sad. Used the halftone again to kind of tie in with the mouth poster, and again it sort of helps with the quality of photos when blowing them up.

portfolio pieces + book

LINK HERE just click....or right click/ cmd-click, save as to download pdf of portfolio pieces

I will post screens of the spreads as well in case the download or pdf doesn't work. (PDF is low quality, temporarily, just so I could upload.) These are just the pieces put into an Indesign file, as instructed, without much design done except for playing with the page with the red/orange/yellow square pieces from last semester--which is why there are two copies of the spread.

The cutout alphabet poster and the black page next to it are place holders for the edited version I am working on. Same for the black page beside the mouth poster--placeholder in case I make another to go along with it.

I uploaded the project I did from Comm design that I will be submitting as a separate book since it is meant to be viewed as a whole. It is a photo interpretation with selected type. It's about 100 pages, but the book is a small format so I think it should be ok to submit alongside the portfolio itself? Thoughts?

****download of separate photobook ---low quality for this one too just so I would be able to upload. Images themselves are much higher quality. I will bring the printed book to class.
